Black collapsible top hat in the well-known silk quality.
This is the original collapsible mason top hat of the best quality. Also used by mayors, chimneysweepers, musicians, the groom for weddings, etc.
You measure your size with a soft tape measure around your head where the hat is supposed to be. Does the measuring tape for example show 60 cm you will need a size 60.
A few good tip to make a top hat lasts for many years:
-
Do not fold your top hat when you get home from the lodge; it will get marks.
-
Do not fold your top hat like they do it in the movies. Fold it towards the stomach.
The right top hat for a Freemason: Chapeau Claque
High hat , (top hat), cylinder hat , stiff, cylindrical men's hat with a flat top and slightly curved brim; made of solid fiberboard, most often covered with black floss silk and sewn black cord silk ribbon on the brim and around the brim.
The first top hats with rounded felt or knitted brims appeared in the 16th century. The modern top hat with a flat top was introduced in England in the late 17th century, originally as a riding hat; it was very popular until the late 18th century. Today, top hats are worn extremely rarely and only for formal use: black silk hats for dress and white, grey felt hats for jackets and a low black variant for riding hats (parforce hunting).
In Denmark, the top hat has a special use in the chimney sweep's work uniform. It is also used by bl.a. , chimney sweeps, musicians, the groom at a wedding, etc.
High hat among Masons
